Avocado and Chocolate Marble Cake

I love experimenting with marble cakes. Green and brown go so well with each other. This cake is a super moist and wholesome with the goodness of butter fruit and richness of chocolate. And yes it looks drop dead gorgeous too.

I love experimenting with marble cakes. Green and brown go so well with each other. A healthy whole wheat cake with the richness of butter fruit This cake is gorgeous to look at and super yummy too. Its moist and soft and very chocolaty.

  1. Sieve the whole wheat flour, baking powder and baking soda together 4-5 times and set aside.
  2. Pre heat the oven at 180 degrees for 10 mins.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the mashed avocado, oil , curd, vanilla essence and sugar together, until well combined. [ add the above ingredients one at a time, in the same order , mixing in after each addition]
  4. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet mixture.
  5. Gently combine , until just mixed [and no lumps are left].
  6. Pour 3/4th of the cake batter in a greased baking dish.
  7. Add the cocoa powder to the remaining part of the batter and mix it well.
  8. Pour this into the baking dish, over the first layer.
  9. Use a fork to draw marble like patterns on top.
  10. Bake in the pre heated oven at 170 degrees for 40 minutes or until the skewer inserted comes out clean.
  11. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before unmolding. Let it cool completely on a cooling rack.
  12. Slice the cake after a couple of hours to get neat slices.

Notes-

You can replace the mashed avocado with banana  and make a yummy banana chocolate marble cake, using the same recipe.

Baking time and temperature may vary. Check on your cake after 30 minutes or so.

It is important that the wet and dry ingredients are 'just combined' and not over mixed in order to give the cake a lovely texture.

I stored the cake in the fridge and it tastes lovely when cold.
