Our summer holidays always included a trip down south to visit our grandparents. It was a yearly routine. Drinking the cold rose flavoured milk from the ‘Aavin’ milk parlourย  felt like finding water in a desert. I would always wait to drink the yummy cold rose milk in the Madras railway station. There was something so soothing about drinking this delicious drink in the hot crowded platform. I would feel all refreshed and get into the holiday mood.

Years have passed and I still love a glass of cold rose milk on a hot summer afternoon and sipping on it takes me down memory lane.

I needed to fix a quick dessert for a couple of friends and this seemed like a good idea. Panna cotta is simple creamy treat that can be flavoured with almost anything and rose milk seemed just perfect.

Creamy dreamy rose milk panna cotta. This dessert is eggfree and vegetarian too. Flavoured with rose syrup, it is as tasty as it looks.
Instructions
  1. Mix the veg gelatin powder and 2 tbsps of the milk. Set aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix the remaining ingredients in a thick bottomed saucepan.
  3. Place over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes or until it becomes slightly warm.
  4. Add the veg gelatin and milk, set aside in step 1, to the above.
  5. Stir continuously and continue to cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes or until the mixture starts to thicken slightly.
  6. Pass the creamy mixture through a sieve to remove any lumps.
  7. Pour into ramkins or silicon molds.
  8. Place in a refrigerator after 10 minutes.
  9. Allow the rose milk panna cotta to set in the refrigerator for about 2 hours and serve chilled.

    • Hi Lari, I have used a brand called Mala’s Rose syrup. The veg gelatin powder I used is similar to agar agar, called carrageenan.

    It’s a beautiful recipe. Thank you ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„ I tried it out just now. However, I used agar agar.. it does not melt in the warm rose solution right?
    I am using agar for the first time. Pls advise.

    • Hi Shruti
      You need to soak the agar agar in water.drain the water and squeeze out the excess water. Then add the bloomed agar agar in the warm rose milk and cook on medium heat till it dissolves completely
